Our Story
🌦️Welcome to Purr-cific Northwest🌦️
A Rainy Day Rescue
While our love for animals has been lifelong, our rescue journey began in 2024 when we moved to Thurston County. As we got to know our new community, we began noticing more and more cats forgotten out in the rain, each with a story waiting to be heard and a life worthy of being remembered.
What began with helping just a few quickly became something much bigger than we ever expected. One rescue led to another, and before long, rescuing wasn’t just something we did. It had become who we are.
Today, during the summer of 2026, we’re proud to be an official nonprofit rescue and foster organization. Our Board of Directors consists of founders Maria Slocum, Jenna Green, and Catherine Slocum Nall. Alongside one of our biggest supporters, whose generosity and unwavering support has helped turn our dreams into a reality. We’re able to continue growing and helping more animals every day.
Every rescue reminds us of what is possible. One frightened cat can find confidence, a sick cat can survive, a happy kitten can beat the 80% fatality rate. Every cat we spay/ neuter and vaccinate also helps break the cycle of homelessness, hunger, and suffering for all others. That’s why we’re here, not only to intervene when help is needed, but to prevent as much suffering as we can. From feral to friendly, from their first days to their final years, every cat deserves the chance to be safe, healthy, loved, and remembered.
Since the beginning, we’ve rescued 87 animals and counting, found forever homes for 47 of them, and continue to grow with every life we save.
While cats are our primary focus, we believe compassion shouldn’t have limits. Over the years, we’ve also rescued several dogs, a pigeon, and even a wasp.
Because every rainy day deserves a little sunshine.

Our Rescue
Our rescue is set up to give every animal the care, space, and freedom they deserve.
After each cat completes their initial quarantine, which includes medical evaluations, diagnostic testing, spay or neuter surgery, and age-appropriate vaccinations, they transition into one of our free-roaming living spaces.
Once they're ready, our cats graduate into one of our long-term living areas based on their individual needs. These spacious, home-like environments provide both indoor living and secure outdoor access while they wait for their forever homes.
One of our primary living spaces is Ollie's Safe Haven, led by Maria Slocum. Here, cats are given the time, patience, and compassion they need to learn that the world can be safe.
The second is The Matriarchy, led by Jenna Green, where young kittens receive neonatal care, developmental monitoring, and early socialization, giving them the strongest possible start to life.
Together, these home-like environments allow us to continue providing compassionate care, behavioral assessments, and rehabilitation while preparing each cat for lasting success in their forever homes, alongside 24-hour canine security.
